A Formula for Success
At Mojenta, we want every client and every relationship to be wildly successful. In our experience serving more than 300 customers since 2010, we've learned to identify the essential ingredients to building an amazing partnership.
Many of the criteria listed below were acquired through 'the school of hard knocks' and learning from our mistakes. You don't survive 10+ years of business without some battle wounds!
The good news is that today we are crystal clear on what it is required on the client side to be ready for an agency - as well as potential roadblocks that could lead to a strenuous relationship if not addressed early on.
In his book Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business, Gino Wickman outlines a formula for ensuring right-fit staff. We have taken his formula and applied it to the clients we onboard, so we look for those who:
- Get it
- Want it
- Have the capacity to do it
Do You 'Get It'?
Getting it has to do with having the right mindset and attitudes. When you 'get it,' your agency spends less time explaining and more time doing - which means you get results faster.
Check out this list to determine if you have a team who 'gets it.'

|Marathon mindset||There are no shortcuts to developing respected brands and good marketing. To do it well takes patience, consistency, and a commitment to excellence.|
|Knows what success looks like||With clear direction and target KPIs, your agency can aim its efforts directly at your goals.|
|Loves data and modern measuring tools (like HubSpot)||Data takes the guesswork out of growth. Having the right tools ensures better decision making and faster results.|
|Treats others with respect and kindness||When your account team likes working with you, you get their best. Being unkind or disrespectful is an excellent way to unmotivate your team.|
Do You 'Want It'?
When you want it, you're engaged and enthusiastic. Clients who want it tend to be excellent communicators and collaborators, which makes the relationship flow smoothly.

Good alignment ensures you're all on the same boat, rowing in the same direction, with a clear path forward.
Do You Have 'Capacity to Do It'?
This is perhaps the area where we encounter the most challenges. Capacity comes down to budget, competency, and time. Without enough of each on the client side, we may struggle to meet your expectations.

|Point of contact has bandwidth to consistently meet and provide feedback||Marketing success is all about consistency and momentum. When you start and stop or miss meetings, your growth engine stalls. With timely feedback, your agency can keep the momentum building.|
If there's anything on this list that stands out to you as being a potential concern, talk to your agency about it.
No company or individual is perfect, so your agency shouldn't expect you to check every box on this list. However, it's always better to discuss potential roadblocks before they occur. This way, you can proactively navigate any potential pitfalls together and build a strong foundation for successful communication.
